Sixty million wild buffalo once roamed North America and nourished the land. Today, less than 4,000 free roaming, migratory bison struggle to survive. Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) is a non-profit, direct action organization that works to defend America’s last wild bison and their ability to migrate freely within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. As a keystone species, wild bison deserve the same access that all other wildlife is given to our public lands that surround Yellowstone National Park. Buffalo are the only wildlife animals that are not allowed to migrate freely out of the park and onto public lands and BFC is working tirelessly to advocate for this majestic yet threatened species. The restoration of wild bison is not only achievable but paramount to ensuring a future for our children that includes healthy grasslands, soils, water, and abundance. “Yellowstone territory, habitat of the last wild Buffalo Nation, is sacred ground…The Buffalo Nation has confirmed this fact by where they have ended up, continuing to survive in their natural migration, struggling to live in a peaceful manner.” ~ Chief Arvol Looking Horse, 19th Generation Keeper of the White Buffalo Calf Pipe of the Great Sioux Nation
