For Denver-based quartet Yamn, the live show is the heart of the experience. One that scintillates the senses with courageous beats, grooves that cause instant and contagious grins to ripple across the undulating crowds, heart-warming peaks and head-banging rock riffs. With more than a quarter of a million road miles behind them after the original members met in the high country town of Breckenridge, CO, the trance-fusion rockers continue hurtling toward their evolving musical vision.

That vision led to the recent release of their second full-length release, Unity of Opposites. The 14 song double album showcases Yamn’s musical versatility and their unique fusion of straight-up rock & roll and live electronica. The theory of The Unity of Opposites dates back to 535-475 BC. The pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus was the first to address this concept that the existence of one thing or condition depends upon the co-existence of the opposite of that thing or condition. Opposites create a tension between one another yet there would be no up without a down, no left without a right, and so forth. They exist together and couldn’t exist without the other. Yamn chose to name the record after this philosophical premise because their music unifies two genres that most consider to be in opposition to one another: hard rock and electronic music. This is manifested in the double album, as one record leans towards electronica and the other disc leans on rock.

As their dedication, virtuosity and pure enjoyment has propelled them across the United States, through intersecting musical communities and the burgeoning festival circuit that brings them together, Yamn’s focus remains on the here, the now and the what-is-to-be, while continually fulfilling their commitment to enhancing their lives and the lives of listeners with powerful, seductive sounds.
