In 2006 I started searching for a place to intentionally broadcast some seeds, I ended up in a band called Elephant Revival, fulfilling some of my wildest dreams like traveling from forest to forest, living in a vegetable oil powered school bus and eventually playing some really neat places like Red Rocks. However, this dream about seriously growing one’s own food was growing louder and in November of 2013, Aera and I left Colorado to pursue permaculture style homesteading adventures on the border of Oklahoma and Kansas, its been rewarding and oh so very humbling.

I wasn’t planning on starting another band, it just happened, music happens wherever it wants, WE DREAM DAWN! is an attempt to find a symbiosis between art and sustenance. It began to take shape after harvesting sweet potatoes, Aera took a break and found out she had a knack for the electric bass, I said, “sweet!, do you want to learn all these songs, we’ve got a benefit gig this weekend”. You see, my friend is battling cancer so we set up a jam with some friends who have never heard any of these songs, to raise a little cash for her. Aera proceeded to learn to play the bass and a whole set of music in a week and Weston nailed it on the drums that night. Weston and I rode the same dusty rural route school bus, he knows a lot about sheep and tractors. So it clicked and the name “WE DREAM DAWN!” developed out of the idea that we can consciously realize our dreams or sleep them away, and it dawned on us later that we all really love each other. So here we are, we play what some may call dreamy post folk music. we like to watch plants grow. we are recording (albeit slowly). we have hope for the future. we dream dawn.
